Dr. Joyce Announces $24 Million Grant to Support New Infrastructure in Johnstown
Washington, DC ? Today, Congressman John Joyce M.D. (PA-13) announced that the U.S Department of Transportation awarded the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability andamp; Equity (RAISE) Grant tothe City of Johnstown. In July, Congressman Joyce sent a letter to Secretary of Transpiration Pete Buttigieg advocating for this critical funding.
The City of Johnstown was awarded $24,488,164 in funding, just shy of the $25 million maximum amount possible to receive from a RAISE Grant.
The funds will be used to construct the "Iron-to-Arts Corridor" transportation project. This includes upgrading the Johnstown Train Station, restoring the historic Inclined Plane transit system to full function, improving the CamTran Downtown Intermodal Transportation Center, and connecting these transit centers with the economic hubs via the Main Street Greenway.
"This funding will directly support the Johnstown community as it continues to expand and reinvent itself in the 21st century. The ?Iron-to-Arts Corridor' pays tribute to the community's historic past while also helping to expand access to local businesses and tourism," said Dr. Joyce "I am grateful to our local community leaders for their vision and diligence to ensure that these resources will be invested wisely in the future and continued growth of Johnstown."
