Dr. Joyce Announces U.S. Department of Transportation Grant for the Altoona-Blair County Regional Airport

August 13, 2021

Altoona, PA Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a grant to the Altoona-Blair County Regional Airport. The grant totaling $59,000.00 will be awarded this year to assist the airport in its ongoing work to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"As we continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, this federal grant funding will help support a sustained recovery for our communities and our nation's critical infrastructure," said Dr. Joyce. "The Altoona-Blair County Airport provides essential services and drives economic opportunities across our region. I will always be an advocate for improving the physical infrastructure that supports our community."

The grant will help the airport address unanticipated costs accrued during the COVID-19 pandemic related to operational readiness including personnel staffing, cleaning costs, janitorial services, and efforts to create a safe and sterile environment to combat the spread of pathogens. A similar grant was also awarded to the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
