Dr. Joyce: Big Tech Censorship Won?t Stop with President Trump

May 5, 2021

Altoona, PA ? Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) released the following statement on Facebook's decision to uphold its ban on former President Donald Trump.

"Alongside millions of Americans, I fear that Big Tech censorship won't stop with President Trump," said Dr. Joyce. "Facebook's decision to ban President Trump from the platform is rooted in political bias, which is driving its content moderation. We cannot allow conservative voices to be silenced, and I support a full review of anti-trust laws that enable Big Tech to ?cancel' conservatives."

Dr. Joyce has strongly advocated against big tech censorship of conservatives including two leaders of the Adams County Republican Committee, who were deplatformed from Facebook without warning or explanation last fall.

During an Energy and Commerce Committee hearing with Big Tech leaders in March, Dr. Joyce exposed Facebook's actions. After Dr. Joyce's urging, the Pennsylvanians as well as the Adams County Republican Committee page were restored to Facebook in April. However, questions remain about the impact of political bias in content moderation.
