Dr. Joyce Stands Strong on Border Security
Washington, DC ? Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) today released the following statement after voting in opposition to H.R. 6, which would grant amnesty to illegal immigrants.
"Our nation is facing a mounting humanitarian and security crisis on the southern border as record numbers of migrants are apprehended on American soil. Now more than ever, we need border security not amnesty for illegal immigrants.
"On the campaign trail, at the White House, and in the halls of Congress, President Biden and Democrats have sent a clear signal to the world that our southern border is wide open. It is simply inhumane for Washington politicians to encourage vulnerable families to attempt the dangerous trek across Central America to the southern border, and we must end this insidious cycle. In addition to preventing heartbreaking human trafficking, we also must stop gang violence and illicit drugs from crossing the porous southern border and plaguing our communities. The border crisis has consequences beyond the border it is a major national security vulnerability. Congress must act now to end this crisis."
Earlier this week, Dr. Joyce spoke about border crisis on the House Floor, including the ramifications of drug trafficking for Pennsylvania communities already combating substance abuse and addiction.
