Chambersburg, PA ? Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) today announced that Lauren Wetzel of Franklin County has been offered a full appointment to the U.S. Military Academy for the class of 2025. Lauren resides in Waynesboro and attends 21st Century Cyber Charter School.
"It was my privilege to nominate Lauren Wetzel of Franklin County to attend the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, and I am thrilled that she has received an appointment to join the Class of 2025. In our community, Lauren already has demonstrated a strong desire to serve our nation and the American people," said Congressman Joyce. "The service academy appointment process is highly selective and competitive. Lauren's appointment to West Point is a testament to her many years of hard work and preparation. Congratulations to Lauren and her family on this achievement, and I wish her every continued success."

All prospective students wishing to attend a service academy must by nominated by a Member of Congress or another U.S. official and then are rigorously evaluated by the service academies, which determine appointments. All appointments for the class of 2025 will be announced on a rolling basis throughout the spring.
In the fall, Congressman Joyce nominated 28 students from Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District to attend the U.S. Service Academies. More information about the service academy nominating and appointment process is available here.
