Dr. Joyce Announces Over $245,000 in Grants to Help Fight Addiction in Franklin County
Washington, DC – Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) announced that the Healthy Shippensburg Coalition and the Chambersburg Cares coalition are the recipients of Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Programs grants in excess of $245,000
The Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program provides grants to community coalitions to strengthen local partnerships that work together to lower drug use in our communities.
“Right now, drug overdoses are the number one killer of Americans between 18 – 45 years old. With the unbridled flow of lethal drugs, such as fentanyl, flowing through our porous Southern border, this funding to fight against the drug crisis and protect our communities is essential” said Dr. Joyce. "Across our nation, no community is immune from the ravages of drug abuse and addiction. We must use an all-hands-on-deck approach and coordinate local, state, and federal efforts to combat and recover from this crisis.
The Healthy Shippensburg Coalition will receive $124,949.02 and Chambersburg Cares will receive $125,000 respectively, to fight against youth substance abuse and strengthen community relationships with local and state authorities. In total, four Pennsylvania localities are receiving grants as part of the program to help address the crisis that we face.
