Dr. Joyce Calls on President Biden to Address Fentanyl Crisis, Inflation in State of the Union Address
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) spoke on the need for President Biden to address the inflation and fentanyl crises that continue to affect Pennsylvania families during his State of the Union Address tomorrow night.
“What Americans need tomorrow night are answers,” said Congressman Joyce. “Families are struggling and, so far, we’ve seen shockingly few attempts from the Biden Administration to confront the kitchen table issues that Americans face.”

In his remarks, Congressman Joyce highlighted the story of Mr. and Mrs. Ray and Deb Cullen, from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, who tragically lost their son, Zach, to a fentanyl poisoning in August 2022 and called on President Biden to lay out a plan to address the rising number of fentanyl-related deaths in the United States.
The Congressman went on to call on the Biden administration to do more in order to combat the combination of rising prices and shrinking real wages that continue to impact Pennsylvanians. According to Peter C. Earle, an economist at the American Institute for Economic Research, since President Biden took office, inflation has risen by over 13% and this December was the 21st straight month that real wages have declined.
