Dr. Joyce Stands Strong for Life & Religious Liberty

February 25, 2021

Washington, DC Congressman John Joyce, M.D. released the following statement after voting against H.R. 5, the Equality Act.

"Like many Pennsylvanians, I have serious concerns about the so-called Equality Act, which would undercut core pro-life protections and unduly restrict Americans' religious freedom. As both a pro-life doctor and a constitutionalist, I will always defend the U.S. Constitution and Americans' indelible First Amendment rights, including the freedom of religion," said Dr. Joyce. "By radically undermining the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, H.R. 5 would endanger Americans' right to freely exercise their conscience and would have serious ramifications for houses of worship and religiously-affiliated schools, hospitals, non-profits, and other organizations in our community. Today I voted NO on this extreme legislation and I will continue my pursuit to protect all human life and defend our Constitutional liberties."

Last month, Dr. Joyce authored an op-ed on his enduring commitment to advocate for pro-life priorities. Read more here.
