Dr. Joyce Urges Gov. Wolf to Re-Open PA-13
Altoona, PA Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) issued the below statement on Governor Tom Wolf's plan to re-open a limited number of Pennsylvania counties.
"It is outrageous that Governor Wolf has singled out certain Pennsylvania regions to re-open when counties in southcentral Pennsylvania with minimal coronavirus cases remain unjustifiably shuttered. The people of Pennsylvania have made costly sacrifices to protect our neighbors. After weeks of successful mitigation, we have slowed the spread of this virus and prevented our health care system from becoming overwhelmed. Pennsylvanians' diligence has saved lives, and now we must be allowed to return to work.
"Too many Pennsylvanians have lost their livelihoods during this shutdown. All of us are ready to get back to work and to get our economy back on the right track. As our neighbors to the north are cleared to return to work next week, it is baffling that the counties of PA-13 the majority of which average fewer than 25 cases are forced to remain closed.
"The numbers speak for themselves. We've done our part to combat coronavirus, and now it's time for Governor Wolf to let us get back to work."
