Dr. Joyce Votes to Cut Wasteful Spending, Support PA-13
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) voted in favor of H. Res. 1061, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, which would cut funding for weaponized government agencies while fully supporting veterans’ healthcare, as well as projects across Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District.
“Since coming to Congress, I’ve fought to rein in government spending while protecting the priorities that matter most to the men and women who call our district home,” said Congressman Joyce. “While no legislation is perfect, this bill fully funds our veterans’ healthcare while providing the resources that farmers across our district need. For the first time since I came to Washington, this bill takes steps to cut funding for the agencies like the FBI and ATF that have targeted our conservative values. These significant cuts to federal agencies, along with funding for Community Projects including fire stations in Cambria County, and improving the safety of I-81 in Franklin County are a step in the right direction for our country and for our district.”
Further, the legislation prevents the Department of Justice from targeting concerned parents, blocks the Biden Administration from stripping veterans of their Second Amendment rights, while making significant cuts to agencies that have been continually weaponized against conservatives, including a 7% cut the Bureau of Alcohol, Tabbaco, and Firearms (ATF) and a 6% cut to the budget of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
This legislation would also fully fund veterans' health care and benefits, upholding Congressman Joyce’s commitment to our nation’s veterans. In total, FY24 appropriations funding will save over $300 million compared to the budget proposed by President Biden.
