Joyce: Clean Natural Gas Is Key Component of America’s Energy Economy
Rep. Joyce Welcomes PA Energy Expert to House Small Business Committee
Congressman John Joyce (PA-13) is a strong supporter of Pennsylvania-produced clean energy. In Congress, he has worked to reduce regulatory burdens, boost innovation, and grow the job market.
This week, the U.S. House of Representatives spent valuable legislative time debating energy bills that would limit job growth and jeopardize Americans' access to affordable energy. Congressman Joyce released the following statement on this week's legislative agenda:
"Congress must support an ?all of the above' strategy to ensure Americans' access to affordable and efficient energy. A leader in our nation's natural gas production, Pennsylvania's natural gas reserves have tripled between 2011 and 2017 thanks to the development of the Marcellus Shale. Not only has the development of natural gas in Pennsylvania expanded economic opportunities, but it also is driving declining carbon dioxide emissions in the U.S. power sector. As a physician, I believe it is critical that we utilize clean-burning natural gas as a key component of our energy economy."
Congressman Joyce is working to highlight the importance of clean natural gas in the U.S. energy economy.
As Republican Leader of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Rural Development Agriculture and Trade, Congressman Joyce led a discussion on clean natural gas in America's energy economy at this week's hearing exploring small business' role in the energy sector.
He welcomed David Spigelmyer, a Pennsylvania native and president of the Pittsburgh-based Marcellus Shale Coalition, as a witness at the hearing. Mr. Spigelmyer testified on the role of natural gas for job creation, innovation, and efficiency in today's clean energy economy:
"In Pennsylvania alone, our industry supports over 300,000 direct and indirect jobs and contributes $45 billon to our state's economy," said Mr. Spigelmyer."From Pennsylvania's labor community that celebrates bustling union halls at full employment, to new members being trained jobs are being generated to modernize our nation's energy infrastructure."
