Joyce Homeland Security Legislation Passes House

October 6, 2020

Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3318, the Emerging Transportation Security Threats Act of 2019.

"In the face of evolving security challenges, it is imperative for federal agencies to work together to prevent and combat threats to our nation. By establishing a task force with the Transportation Security Administration and other security leaders, the Emerging Transportation Security Threats Act of 2019 will facilitate new strategies to mitigate emerging threats to the U.S. transportation system.

"This commonsense solution will protect Americans in PA-13 and across the country, while making the federal government more efficient. As H.R. 3318 heads to the Senate for further consideration, I am grateful to my colleagues for their overwhelming support of this legislation."

Congressman Joyce's bill, H.R. 3318, creates a task force to analyze emerging threats to transportation security and requires the Transportation Security Administration to develop threat mitigation plans for identified threats in coordination with transportation security stakeholders.

Following today's House passage, H.R. 3318 will await further action in the Senate.
