Joyce Praises President Trump’s Address On Border Security

October 6, 2020

13th District Lawmaker Vows To Continue To Work To End Government Shutdown

Congressman John Joyce (PA-13) tonight released the following statement commending President Trump for his address on the humanitarian and security crisis at the southern border:

"President Trump and I both campaigned on a platform of securing our border and keeping Americans safe and the people of the 13th district sent us both to Washington with a mandate to do just that," said Congressman Joyce. "I agree with the President that for far too long lawmakers have refused to confront illegal immigration head on, giving us the humanitarian and security crisis we now face at the southern border. Congress needs to act now to fund the wall so we can prevent crime, drugs and violence from pouring into our country. It is time for House Democrats, who have voted for wall funding in the past, to stop with the political posturing and come to the table for good faith negotiations."

Joyce, who last week announced that he is asking the Chief Administrative Officer to withhold his pay until the government is again opened, added, "I feel for the federal workers who are being affected by the shutdown and I am hopeful that the President's address tonight will increase the chances we reach a solution. I vow to work with my colleagues to open the government and I will continue to refuse a salary until that occurs."
