Joyce Stands Strong on Border Security

Congressman John Joyce (PA-13) recently took to the House Floor on two occasions to voice opposition to partisan immigration bills that fail to address the humanitarian and security crisis on the southern border. Both times, he encouraged House Democrats to return to the House Committee on Homeland Security to collaborate on bipartisan solutions to secure the southern border and end this on-going crisis.

The first bill, H.R. 2203, is merely messaging legislation intended to pander to House Democrats' progressive base, while doing little to achieve actual progress on the border. In PA-13, this crisis has taken a tangible toll on our communities as illicit drugs continue to pour across the southern border. The second bill, H.R. 3525, would require the Department of Homeland Security to implement an interoperable electronic health records (EHR) system for illegal immigrants in just 90 days. As any physician knows, that is simply unrealistic. By comparison, Congress has spent years and billions of dollars to set up a similar system at the VA and it still won't be completed for nearly a decade.
