Joyce Stands Strong on Life
Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) released the following statement as Americans mark the 47th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.
"Each life born and unborn is a precious gift from God that is worthy of our protection. For 47 years, Roe v. Wade and the amoral destruction of life have directly contradicted this truth. As a doctor, I took an oath to protect human life and to ?do no harm.' It is my privilege and my responsibility to stand alongside President Trump and other pro-life Americans as we continue our shared fight for life. On behalf of the 13th District of Pennsylvania, I will continue to serve as a voice for the voiceless and as a defender of the most vulnerable among us."
Recently, Congressman Joyce received an "A" rating from the Susan B. Anthony List for his pro-life record in Congress. Last week, Congressman Joyce spoke about his pro-life commitment on the House Floor. Watch his remarks here.
Read his remarks:
Mr. Speaker, I thank the gentleman for yielding.
Forty-seven years of the amoral destruction of life is forty-seven years too long. As a physician, my pro-life conviction is rooted in the Hippocratic Oath's commitment to protecting human life. In the medical community, each of us is called to do everything in our power to protect the patients to whom we are assigned. Each of us pledges to "do no harm."
Mr. Speaker, Roe vs. Wade directly contradicts this oath. Each life is a precious gift that is truly worthy of our protection.
As our nation marks another tragic anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, I remain committed to serving as a steadfast voice for the voiceless. And, as we continue this fight, I remain eternally hopeful that our nation will someday value ALL human life for its inherent worth and its dignity.
Thank you, and I yield back the remainder of my time.
