Joyce Statement on FY 2020 Defense Authorization
Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020.
"The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 is strong legislation that will provide well-deserved benefits for our servicemembers and their families while bolstering our national defense. This bill delivers the largest pay raise in a decade for our troops, provides necessary resources to increase readiness, supports critical nuclear programs, includes a three-year phased repeal of the Widow's Tax that unfairly penalizes surviving spouses, and ensures that President Trump maintains the resources he needs to defend the southern border and protect the American people.
"The brave members of our Armed Forces serve and sacrifice for our nation each day. Working alongside President Trump, I will continue fighting to rebuild our military and support the warfighter."
