Rep. Joyce Appointed to Homeland Security Cybersecurity Panel

October 6, 2020

Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) released the following statement on his appointment to the House Committee on Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation.

"In the 21st century, cybersecurity is a critical component of our national security strategy. As our nation is increasingly targeted by bad actors, it is an honor to join this group of Members who are committed to identifying, preventing, and combating threats to our nation's cyber infrastructure," said Congressman Joyce. "As a physician, I am particularly excited to work on protecting American patients and the health care community from cybersecurity threats. This is a tremendous opportunity to serve Americans in PA-13 and around the country, and I am grateful to Ranking Member Rogers for appointing me to this position."

Rep. Mike Rogers (AL-3), who serves as the top Republican on the House Committee on Homeland Security Committee, recently selected Congressman Joyce to serve on the subcommittee.

"I'm happy to have Rep. Joyce join the Cybersecurity Subcommittee. As the medical field faces new cybersecurity threats, from intellectual property theft to hospitals facing ransom ware attacks, John's experience as a doctor will be particularly beneficial," said Ranking Member Rogers. "John understands and values how important securing our networks, critical infrastructure, and supply chain are to keeping our nation safe from rival nation-states, hackers, and other bad actors. I look forward to working with him on these issues."
