Rep. Joyce Welcomes U.S. Drug Czar to PA-13, Vows to Fight Drug Crisis
Chambersburg, PA ? Today, Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) hosted White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Director Jim Carroll for two roundtables in central Pennsylvania to discuss our nation's drug crisis, which has taken a tangible toll on our community.
"Across our nation, no community is immune from the ravages of drug abuse and addiction," said Congressman Joyce. "We must use an all-hands-on-deck approach and coordinate local, state, and federal efforts to combat and recover from this crisis. It was an honor to host the U.S. Drug Czar in PA-13 for discussions with local law enforcement, educators, medical professionals, and business leaders. All of us must do our part to combat drug abuse, and I am grateful to have Director Carroll and the Trump Administration fighting alongside southcentral Pennsylvanians."
As the head of ONDCP, Director Carroll leads the Administration's work to reduce drug use and its consequences by leading and coordinating the development, implementation, and assessment of U.S. drug policy.
"I sincerely appreciate Congressman Joyce's leadership and dedication to saving lives in Pennsylvania and across the country. Congressman Joyce has worked tirelessly alongside President Trump as well as me and my office at the White House to bring much-needed resources to his District," said ONDCP Director Jim Carroll. "Pennsylvania communities large and small have been devastated by the crisis of addiction in America, and as part of the Trump Administration's whole-of-government approach, we are bringing federal, state, and local partners together with those on the front lines of this fight to ensure our efforts are making a difference. I appreciate Congressman Joyce's invitation to come to Pennsylvania and see firsthand the commitment by everyone there to save lives."
This morning, Congressman Joyce hosted a roundtable with Director Carroll in Chambersburg at the Franklin County Area Development Corporation. In Gettysburg this afternoon, Congressman Joyce and Director Carroll met with a number of community leaders at the Adams County Ag Center.
